Cannot format Hitachi Deskstar 2TB internal drive past 54%

Windows vista 64 will not format 2tb Hitachi deskstar internal drive past 54%. If I try to quick format it wont work at all. Its not the drive the drive is fine.
I think there is a problem with the size of the drive its like some size barrier that windows or my motherboard (asus p5n32-e sli) cannot pass hence the 54% barrier. Please help I want to format this drive so I can use it. Thanks.

Are you sure there's no issue with the drive itself? you were able to format it on another system?

AFAIK, your mobo should be able to support drives with that capacity. Have you updated the BIOS?

i SOLVED THE PROBLEM mY ASUS P5N32-E SLI BOARD USES NVIDIA DRIVERS NFORCE680I
i UPDATED THE BIOS BUT NEEDED TO UPDATE THE NVIDIA NFORCE DRIVERS ONCE i DID THAT i COULD FORMAT THE DRIVE.

I had this problem and after many frustrating attempts i found that downloading EASEUS Partition Master 7.1.1 Home Edition resolved the issue in about 2 minutes. Hoep this helps. Wish i had found it sooner
