Cannot get out of Asus bios

So I got onto my computer after simply popping odd the side of the case to check something on my mobo, and then without touching the internals slid the cover back on. I also took off the front cover for the same purpose. A while later, I plugged the power cord back in and started it up. Initially I got the American megatrends bios and then on a black screen asking to enter something (I can't remember what) and then press any key to proceed. After unplugging the power cord and putting it back in a few times, I disconnected my hard disk drive (I had heard the hdd often caused this problem) and tried again. I don't believe it proved immediate success, but after fiddling around I got to the asus bios menu. At this point, I loaded the optimized defaults from the asus ez mode and clicked save changes and reset, hoping for the best. Unfortunately, it put me back at the bios menu and I instead clicked discard changes and the screen restarted but when it came back up, I was right back in the bios :/ so at this point I've tried exiting from the advanced bios menu as well, but with no success. Any help wold be fantastic, thanks!

Solution
It's located on the motherboard, and looks like this. Make sure you put it back in the same way it came out, and be sure to unplug power from the wall before you remove and reinstall the cmos battery. Then plug the power back in afterwards.

To remove it, just pull back on the little metal clip that holds it in, and lift the battery out. Same thing to reinstall, but opposite.
Try removing, and reinstalling, the cmos battery. Wait about ten seconds after removing it, and put it back in. It may be that there is an issue and it's simply taking you directly to the bios because of a setting issue with one or more hardware components. Or are you saying that when IN the bios, you can't save settings and then exit and reboot. Is it taking you back to the bios after a reboot or won't leave the bios at all once you're in there?

Whenever I try to leave the bios, it takes me right back, I can't find a way to get out of it. but I just found a disk and took it out, it didn't make a difference when I tried to exit. Sorry, but I don't have much experience with pcs, what's the cmos battery?

I did it just as you said, but it just brought me back to the bios menu, forgot to mention earlier that I did plug my hdd back in afterwards but it isn't showing up in the boot priority menu

It doesn't sound to me like you're very familiar at all with computer hardware, so I'm tentative about offering direction on this. I think there's definitely a hardware issue. Do you have a system speaker attached to the motherboard and if so are you getting any beep codes prior to it looping back into the bios menu? If not, you probably need to get one. It's pretty hard to even guess what's causing this to happen without knowing what the error is that's taking you there.

So I did a little research and found out that I had accidentally manually reset the bios, your right in saying I'm not that knowledgeable but I could figure out how to work with the componets with a little help from utube. So me resetting the bios is why I'm having this issue, how could I troublesh from here?

I talked to someone at asus and they gave me two possible options: bring it in to get fixed for like $150 or buy and put in a recovery media disk for like $8. I haven't received the disk and am not positive it will work, but it claims compatible with windows 8 and it is the type of disk the guy said. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will fix it and I'll update when I try it
