I have built a new PC. I have installed a USB PCI adapter. I have a USB hub linked to one of the extra ports. The HUB is powered by an AC adapter, however, I'm not getting anything working through the hub. I have an RGB mouse and keyboard, a couple of dongles and a lightpack cable hooked into it. Is the hub defective or are you not meant to have a setup like this? I have plugged the hub directly into the motherboard and get the same results. Any help would be much appreciated.

Solution
This is what I wrote just recently on another thread, but I hope this helps.

Plug the mouse or whatever peripheral you want to use in the USB hub
Right Click on the Windows Start Menu Button (alternatively CTRL+X)
Select Device Manager
Scroll down to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and expand the list.
Select your USB hub, mine is "Generic USB Hub"
Uninstall the driver of the USB hub and unplug the USB hub, still making sure the peripheral/Mouse/USB is plugged into the USB hub and reconnect the USB hub to the PC.
This should allow you to use the plugged-in device in the USB hub.

Hope this helped.
