Cannot install clean windows.

My laptop is an HP dv5 1015NR. Originally it came with Windows Vista but later on I installed Windows 7, which was the OS I was using, until 2 days. I'm having trouble reinstalling W7 or even WXP.

Everything was working just fine but i powered my laptop off and the next day I was getting the blue screen error: UNMOUNTABLE_BOO_VOLUME, CLASSPNP.SYS whenever I tried to repair it, even using a Windows 7 installation DVD, and it got stuck at the Windows 7 light blue screen when running the recovery.

So after all the failed attempts I made a disk format and now during the first step of the installation it's asking me for drivers. I downloaded them all from the HP website, copied them to a pen drive and now am trying to apply them to the installation with no success. It says that they cannot be found or even after selecting them from the compatible list they won't load. I'm still stuck at step 1: compiling information or compiling necessary files. Sorry if it isn't the correct term, I'm installing it in Spanish.

I'd appreciate a little help, I'm getting frustrated after trying to solve this with no success at all.

Do not LOAD THE DRIVERS, it's useless. Just download and install it after finishing installing your OS.

I've been doing this for almost 30+ times and this is the first time I've encountered it.

After clicking Custom (Advanced), click the Drive Options (Advanced)
Delete partition, then format it.

Can you send a photo of the part where it requires you to install the drivers?

Ok, here is what I get.

The first installation screen is for the 3 options. I select language, etc. click next.

Now there is the install now option, (what i selected), and bellow: what you need to know before installing windows, repair, etc.

Is this when installing Windows 7 or XP? If XP, you need to set the drive mode to ATA or Legacy (your BIOS may have it listed as either). If Windows 7, you could have a bad hard drive. Burn a copy of the Ultimate Boot CD, boot the computer from that. There are several drive testing programs on it, run a scan with one that should work for your drive (you'll have to see what your hard drive model is and match it to the utilities).

I think the problem is within the Installation CD you are using. Is this the original CD of your PC or you just downloaded it? Try to use another Windows 7 CD and check if the same result will appear. Is this the first time you installed Windows 7 on your PC?

Yes, it is a paid downloaded version. It is the third time I'm installing it since I have this laptop.

I don't know what that HP BIOS looks like exactly. Just go into the BIOS setup, look for the hard drive options (not the boot order but the options for it's operation). It's probably in a sub menu of one of the main sections.

I replaced the hard disk with a new one (western digital 500GB) and the same error appears. Also i cannot find an option in the bios settings for the hard disk.

You changed your drive right? That's a BSOD for storage controllers or RAID. Is that a SATA device? Check the settings in the BIOS, I'm not sure how but i think change IDE to SATA like that.

From what I've been reading here http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156593&page=8 it seems that HP bios come with a predefined ahci setup already. For acer and dell users changing ide to sata worked perfectly. A couple of guys said they downloaded the sata drivers and applied them during the installation process. A week after I'm starting to understand what the problem is lol. I'll post back if it got fixed after the hdd drivers. Thanks for your concern!

Hello,

I managed to download many drivers, this time there were more versions and made a boot CD with nlite or something, adding the drivers into the same XP installation CD. To my surprise, it started loading all these drivers and the next thing I know Windows was already copying system files.

Right now I'm upgrading to Windows 7 without any inconvenients so far.
