Cannot launch Steam games after a restore?

Hello.
I had a nasty run in with a virus, giving all types of baddiwad PUPS and other such obnoxious programs, so i ran a system restore. Everything was going fine until i tried to launch a game on steam. It would flash the preparing to launch screen and then would not launch. So i uninstalled steam and re installed and what do ya know? ALL MY STEAM GAMES ARE NO LONGER INSTALLED!!

Im so confused. What do you guys think happened?

It depends on how you uninstalled it. If you did it from add/remove programs all you have to do is attempt to reinstall the game and it will detect it automatically. If you deleted the Steam folder then you will have to download the games again.

To avoid this situation in the future you can use the backup/restore games function in Steam. This is very useful to backup large games to a different hard disk. Note that this will NOT keep your save games, just make a backup of the game itself so you don't have to redownload it later.

Well, i re installed some games and now they wont launch at all. They all crash now what the heck?

Go download the directX installer and try that.
