I recently bought a D-link DIR 505 which is a router/repeater/wifi hotspot all combined in one. Now I followed instructions on how to configure this as a repeater: Switch the position to Repeater on the device, then plug it in, wait for the light to turn green, connect to the AP through the computer wirelessly and then log in to the device. Now this is where the problem. I can do everything well till connecting to it but I cannot seem to log on to the device. I can see its giving me an IP and the gateway is shown as 192.168.0.1. However, when I try and logon to this, I keep getting a "page cannot be reached". I tried connecting from a different machine but keep getting the same error. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I logon and configure? I tried switching it to the regular router/ap mode and tried again but got the same error. Any help would be appreciated.

Try connecting using
http://dlinkrouter
or
https://dlinkrouter

If that doesn't work, a different IP address may have been assigned to the repeater from the originating router. You may need to log in to that device to discover it.

You may also need to connect by wire to the DLink to configure it in access point mode.

I tried that. Did not work. I cant seem to access the web interface. Also since its brand new out of the box, its not yet configured to "repeat" the source signal. Also I turned off my computer Wifi and tried connecting to it with a cable. No joy.
