I posted a question before a while ago. I have an external hard drive that when connected reads but won't open. My laptop makes the connected/disconnected sounds but, when I look at it on My Computer is just appears as Local Disk (H: ). It doesn't show any specifications like how much space is free. I tried doing some stuff to get it to work but whatever program I run to fix it (while the hard drive is connected) it lags or does not respond. When I disconnect the hard drive it works just fine. I really need it to work again. I have a lot of important stuff on it and would like to fix it without losing any files. Thanks.

damn sorry, didint even realize i forgot to answer this, its simple all you should have to do is change the name of your harddrive, the letter, try doing this
Type Disk Management into the search bar

Then right click the drive "h" and then click change drive letter and path, change it to d or e, then you should be able to access it.
