When I try to rename a folder I get two error messages:
"Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name."
and
"The folder or file does not exist."

Mictosoft support wants to blame Norton 360 but these message occur even when N360 is disabled. When I check the folder / file properties it has defaulted to Read Only even after I clear the check mark.
Any ideas what's going on?

OS: Windows Home 10.19045
System Model: Aspire TC-875
Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 16.0 GB
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "10.0.19041.5072"

In Windows 10/11, folders are labeled as ReadOnly all the time, by default.

They temporarily become write enabled when an action has to happen, by a higher level System Account.

What specific 'folder' are you trying to manage?

windows also has some reserved names and can parse folders with embedded spaces incorrectly.
you can still delete them but it take some effort. you can have too long paths to folders, embedded special characters.
windows user interface strips out leading spaces in file names. unix based tools do not
you would have to use a quote to include the leading or trailing space.

what is the folder name that you see?

New Folder. I doesn't matter which directory, drive, or NAS the folder is on. The crazy thing is, I've tried to set up all three of my boxes the same yet only the one allows renaming.
