So, this started last night. I noticed OneDrive was stuck on signing in. I tried right clicking on it and selecting the option to sign in, entered email address, then a white blank window pops up and just hangs there. The same thing happens when I bring up Excel and it asks me to sign in.

Windows update also now fails with error 0x80070643.

I tried this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...onedrive-3c4680bf-cc36-4204-9ca5-e7b24cdd23ea
...but it didn't work.

I'm planning on trying an in-place upgrade install next (as described on this site actually https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/fix-windows-10-repair-install), but I'm not sure that will fix the problem, or what my next step should be if it does not.

some answers from MIcrosoft
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Clear Your OneDrive Credentials: Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager. Click on Windows Credentials. Scroll down and locate your OneDrive credentials (OneDrive Cached Credential). Select and remove all the OneDrive entries one by one.
  • Disable Your Antivirus and Firewall Temporarily: Sometimes, antivirus software or firewall settings can interfere with OneDrive’s ability to sync files. Try disabling these temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Unlink and Re-link Your Computer to OneDrive: If there’s a linking issue between OneDrive and your computer, you might need to unlink and then re-link OneDrive to your computer.

could try to repair office

repair install might fix but its more for windows itself, not office. I don't think it does anything to applications but perhaps.

he did a repair install, it is non destructive meaning all his user info was still the same. It basically installs windows over itself but it leaves all the other files as is.

So his fix wouldn't have been included in a repair install.
