Hello,

I recently loaded Ubuntu on the my Windows Vista computer and now i can no longer access windows updates, or update my MS Security Essentials. I tried accessing bcdedit and under "Real-mode Boot Sector" it shows the identifier device path description as c:\ubuntu...

Please let me know if there is an easy fix.

thank you,

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Have you got Internet access on the Vista installation? There is no co-relation to installing Linux and Windows updates failing. If Vista can connect to the Net it can update MSE and go to any other website. Changing settings in BCEDIT will only affect the boot options - if that works properly, leave it for the time being.
