hi. on my old motherboard i used the equalizer in sound settings to get that perfect sound i like.

the old motherboard was M5A97 LE 2.0
my new motherboard is Z170A GAMING M7

i have tried updating audio drivers and rolling back drivers. it will not show an equalizer anywhere.
i cannot figure this out and i dont even think i will be able to get this feature back with this motherboard i have.

i have used a software that MSI provides to do updates and i have done that as well.

does anyone know what i could do?

Has there been a change in Windows version since your old board?

Which user interface are you using, Windows audio manager or Realtek? Eq should be there somewhere in both. Assuming you've reinstalled Windows a setting has probably left unchecked or if coming from Win 7 the Eq setting might be in a different spot.

How are your speakers wired?

If there is no option/selection in the Nahimic/Realtek menu for an EQ with the Z170 Gaming 7, then it simply does not exist unfortunately... Check options for both to ensure nothing is unchecked, as applicable. If not, here is a place to start for some 3rd party Windows EQ programs you can look at that may interest you:

i just discovered this program after asking this question and also realtek doesnt have this option anymore. it did when i had my last motherboard. the program wasnt provided and doesnt show up in the msi update live program. i had to download it manually from their website. i am currently investigating it. it appears to be working fine right now but it has diminished my microphone receiving level. now im trying to work that out

If you're running in to issues with Mic input levels, you might want to consider bypassing the onboard mic entirely and pick up something like a USB adapter. With mics needing a higher than normal power level (Modmic as an example), using one of these guys helps with the Mic input levels

As for an EQ to use, a lot of people have been recommending Razers EQ. While I'm not particularly fond of their hardware, I've seen a lot of recommendations in the gaming community for the EQ software for people trying to do directional 5.1/7.1 sound setups.

after running a record and playback test, my microphone seems to be normal still.. i think. it just shows the receiving levels to be very low to non-exsistant but i hear my self just fine after the test. before i installed nahimic audio, the sound level equalizer would hit the top.

i am trying out nahimic audio right now. i have tried multiple other programs and they dont effect audio at all. since nahimic was made for MSI boards like mine and seems to be working fine and allows me to adjust equalizer settings. im going to have a go at this for some time to see if it works out good. i know some programs will muddy out sound and just plain out made audio quality even worse when you try adjusting sound levels

Did you click on the Sound Effects tab in the Realtek HD Audio Manager and then click on the equalizer button to toggle the visibility of the Equalizer controls?
