[SOLVED] Cannot use mic in CSGO

Hi all, I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I am unable to use SLAM. I thought it was just a SLAM issue so I bought an actual mic and it doesn't work too.

Here's the kicker, it works in all games I have (BFBC2,TF2,etc.)

It even works on Discord and Teamspeak very well. Heck, it even works on Steam itself (Steam Voice communication)

I have tried contacting steam support thrice but they don't provide any help. Its just kind of a copy paste response by now.

This is the Error I have been getting when I type voice_system_enable 1 in console.

] voice_system_enable 1
Unable to initialize DirectSoundCapture. You won't be able to speak to other players.

As far as my knowledge is concerned,it is a problem with dsound.dll. But I do not know how to fix this.

Please help me, I have come with high expectations here. Its really annoying to have a mic and not use it.
The push-to-talk key does nothing and the little speaker icon doesn't show up on the bottom left of the screen.

I used SLAM when I used Windows 7 64-bit. Basically play MP3's over the voice comms. It was annoying to not have some funny moments but thats fine.

So uh please help, no trolling.
I will add stuff if it is needed.

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Solution
Firstly make sure the correct input device is selected in game AND in steam overlay.

Otherwise;
Run an uninstall on SLAM,
Delete CSGO temp/config files and check if voice is working.
Then reinstall SLAM.
