Cannot use my Hard disk

I got a External hard disk from a friend. The hard disk is fine but the usb2sata converter is not working he asked me to just recover his data but when i connected to my system bios detected it and it is showing under device manager but not in disk management and not anywhere else. also i tried to format it but system is not creating any partition and the disk part is not also working. the hard disk is in healthy condition. can anyone suggest me to how to use it.

Connect it directly to a desktop motherboard, try another usb adapter.

conncted to two different desktop computers via sata cable but same is occurring. but didnt another usb adapter so couldnt try.

If the drive is not detected, how do you know it's working? If the drive connected directly to a motherboard is not seen, it's not a working drive. If it shows up in device manager that means the board connection is seen, but it can't talk to the actual hard drive storage.
