Hi there, I have a Toshiba HDD from my security system, I have plugged it into my pc via sata and I can see it in disk management but it wont show up in My PC.

It comes up without a drive letter, when I right click on the partition everything is greyed out other then delete and help.

Running windows 10.

Partitions 1-4 are the toshiba HDD, it's like their locked or something.

Who ever installed my security system must have made them. I found out it's in a Linux format. I don't want to delete anything because it has footage of someone breaking into my pub. They took this HDD and dropped it outside on the foot path and it isn't able to boot into my dvr so I want to extract the data/footage off it onto my PC.

If it been dropped on hard surface and it will not boot or show up on the dvr there is no way of data transfer.

If its linux HDD than the drive than its likely to be formated ex4 partition. Windows can not read ex4 thats why its grayed out.

Since you can see the drives on windows disk management there is only one way to possibly copy the data.

Used a computer and download ubuntu iso installer either burn it to a dvd or an USB thumb drive 16GB should be enough. Link below is instructions how to create and live usb or dvd. A live usb is faster booting up.

https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1

The drives you want to copy from connect them one at a time if needed.

Once you follow the instructions on how to create the Installer. reboot see of it will detect the ubuntu usb. If it does not than might be need a key sequence to use to be able to boot from the ubuntu thumb drive

Now you can try ubuntu it will boot into ram. Than see if the drive or drives are shown. Provide pictures so I can see what the issue is if any. 😁
