Hello all,

My Canon ip4000's head wouldn't move to the "replace cartridge" position, and in the process of trying various combinations of pressing and holding the power and "resume" buttons, I suspect I accidentally entered service mode and somehow told the printer that it's an ip4100 (the Japanese version of the ip4000). My printer now looks for ip4100 drivers, which don't seem to be avaiable anywhere. Does anyone know how to get it to think it's an ip4000 again?

Thanks!

You could try flashing the firmware or something.... but here's how I change my cartridge: open up front cover, then open up top cover. Print head auto goes back and forth, comes up, and moves to center, waiting for me to change cartridge. If this doesn't work, open up the top and unplug the power just as the head is moving across the printer :) may need a friend to help you with that.

Could you explain your situation more clearly? So the printer thinks it's an ip4100? How does your OS recognize it? It may be your OS's fault. Reinstall drivers manually?

I'm throwing this thing out soom. My ip4000 makes a creaking sound every time it starts up :S But it is a nice cheap printer
