Canon IP4000R over Wifi: Can't use with WPA?

So,

I friend gave me her "old" IP4000R since her employer gave her a newer model. I'm spending an insane amount of time trying to get the printer to work over WIFI. I just can't get it to work!!!

System:

- Dell XPS M1330, 32 bit Vista (updated as of today)
- Canon IP4000R
- Dlink DIR-825

The main problem is that when using WPA, the printer can't connect to the router. If I have open wifi, everything works fine. I've turned off firewall/anti-virus and tried it with it turned on. Nothing works....

There must be something I'm not getting, a setting on the router or something.

Anybody been experiencing the same?

Setting up my fathers PIXMA MP990 was way WAY easier...

Check out the manual at Canon's support site -- maybe the printer only supports WEP which (contrary to the dictums of some experts) is probably better than nothing.
