Canon Memory Card Error

I have a Canon PowerShot A95 camera. It was not in use for more than a year and now when powered on, it is showing memory card error and also not getting formatted. Please help me to resolve the issue

Try plugging the card into a computer and formatting from there instead.

Open "my computer" and then right click on the card's icon, there will be a format option.
