[SOLVED] Canon printer loses IP connection after going in to deep sleep ?

I have Canon MF216N that is hardwired connected to wireless repeater model Netgear WN3000RP that is wireless connected to TP-Link AX11000. On TP link, ip is assigned as static to both Netgear and the printer. I can ping Netgear with no problem, however printer will not reply to pings and i can't print to it unless i restart the printer. Any idea how to fox this problem ? DHCP on Netgear is off so TP link is doing all the routing.

edit:I should add that even if i take printer out of energy saver(sleep) mode , it will still not reply to pings and network information does list the ip that was assigned to it.

TIA

I had the same problem with my mom's Canon printer. Worked fantastic for about 6-7 years, then all of the sudden wouldn't connect to her wifi network anymore once it entered and came out of deep energy saver sleep mode. The only workaround was to turn off energy saver to keep it from going to sleep.

The best way to mitigate this is to set a DHCP reservation for the printer in your router. However, her printer actually loses the wifi password, so it won't even connect.

After much research, it turns out the battery on the circuit board had died and needs to be replaced, but it's some kind of soldered on battery, so you have to replace that whole board. I was like no thanks, just keep it like this mom.
Line diagram (edit and correct as necessary):

TP-Link AX11000 (main router) ~~~~ wireless~~~~> Netgear WN3000RP ----Ethernet ----> Canon MF216N

What IP addresses are you using for:

Router/Gateway

Static IP address for the Netgear Repeater

Static IP address for the Canon Printer

On your computer run the following two commands via the Command Prompt:

ipconfig /all

arp -a

Post the results.

How many devices are on the network?

I see:

192.168.1.124 20-4e-7f-b7-1e-4a dynamic

192.168.1.150 da-49-2f-5a-5f-06 dynamic

On the TP-Link router setup the repeater and printer IP addresses as static IP addresses assigned to the repeater and printer via their respective MACs'

Verify the device MACs being used.

Per @gggplaya

"The only workaround was to turn off energy saver to keep it from going to sleep. "

Give that a try.

Doubt that the "lost" energy saving would really be all that much. Likely you can find other ways to save energy and offset costs.
I think i solved the issue and not sure why i didn't think of it before.

I turned off DHCP on the printer and assigned static ip on the printer itself. It been over a day and it still works fine.
