Hi there,
I got the adc100 in the mail.
It is a 250 dollar external unit that converts digital to analog and
vice-versa.

In the box comes a 6-inch cable with RCA jack on one end and s-video on the
other.

This cable seems to perform the digital-to-analog part of converting digital
to analog.

Is there some sort of irony here?

Discussed here almost continuously. Highly regarded by most
of us who have them.

That cable provides the composite video input connection for
the back panel of the small unit.

Note that the "Video In" connector on the back has more than the 4
pins required for Y/C (or "S-Video"). Additonal pins are used
for the composite input which they didn't have the physical space
for otherwise.

No cable is capable of doing anything remotely resembling
D/A or A/D conversion.
