Question Cant access American Megatrends 2005 BIOS with USB keyboard

Hi. I am trying to reinstall windows on an oldish PC. It was my Dads old PC and it came with a USB keyboard. The problem is when I get to the bit that allows me to press F11 for the boot menu or Del/F2 to get to BIOS setup non of this works. I've tried both back USB ports and holding down and taping the keys. No joy. Do I need to find an od PS/2 keyboard or is there another way of sorting this out?

You need to find a PS/2 keyboard. For the first generations of USB, some mainboards did not support USB keyboards.

Or you can try to find adaptors to convert USB to PS/2. My first optical mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse also came with one of them. They are cheap, and when I google, I find many.

I would reccomend finding a cheap ps2 keyboard for testing purposes. You may be able to find one at a thrift store or a yard sale for a dollar or 2.
