Hi all

Hoping someone can help, need this fixed asap.

The latest windows update has completely broken my computer. Absolutely nothing works, can't even get onto the desktop or see any files. Just constant error messages saying nothing exists.

So I have taken the HDD out of my computer and connected it to my laptop to try and move the files over. I connected it using a sata-usb cable. Once it's connected nothing comes up on my laptop. So I went onto disk management and selected intialize (MBR) and an error message comes up saying 'the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error'. I have tried a couple programs (EaseUS, Ontrack) and no luck. Just can't seem to access the HDD to get my files. Any advice at all? I need it fixed urgently as its for work. It's a 1tb WD Blue hdd. thanks!

Where is the hard drive getting its power?

You need to have both power and data connected via the SATA ports on the HDD.

If you have some USB adapter that provides both connections, there may still not be enough power via the USB adapter to service the HDD's power requirements.
