Can't access Maxtor 7080AT hdd

I'm trying to recover data from a Maxtor 7080AT hdd via an Easy IDE adaptor (IDE to USB). The device seems to install correctly and is visible in the device manager. However, it is not visible in My Computer or in Disk Management. I have set the jumpers to both 'only disk in drive' and also 'master' to no avail. It successfully boots into MS-DOS 5 on a different machine and all the data is readable. Any ideas?

Hi,

try removing the jumper since it master alone.

I know that WD alone do not need jumper.

Did you try to install it as slave in another computer ?

RESOLVED: I remembered that one of my other hard drives successfully booted on the second machine and is also compatible with the Easy IDE adaptor. I installed the Maxtor as a slave to the other hdd on the other machine and transferred the files from the Maxtor to the other hdd. I then successfully tranferred the files from the other hdd to my current machine using the Easy IDE adaptor. Thanks go to dextermat for the quick response and the reminder.
