I'm having a lot of trouble accessing my router's settings page. My router is being used as an access point. It is plugged into my modem, which is a router/modem combo, but I have disabled the wireless feature on the modem/router. When I go to http://myrouter.local I get redirected to the settings page of the 2 in 1 modem. When I disconnect the router from the 2 in 1 and try http://myrouter.local it just loads for eternity. All help is appreciated. Thanks!

Router: Linksys EA3500 Smart Wi-fi Router
2-in-1: Arris SurfBoard SBG6400

You can try using a network tool like AngryIP scanner, but you'll need to allow it to scan all of the private IP address space. It will likely be in the 192.168.x.x space, so you may get lucky and find it quickly.

Because the Linksys is configured as an AP, its IP address is likely in a different subnet than your Arris, which will prevent your from accessing the Linksys' GUI.

You'll need to disconnect the Linksys from the Arris, temporarily set a static IP address on your PC to 192.168.1.2, then try to connect to the Linksys. If "myrouter.local" doesn't work, try typing the default IP address of 192.168.1.1 into your browser.

You should then change the Linksys' LAN IP (Router Address) to an address that is in the Arris subnet but outside of the DHCP range. Once you've done that, set your PC back to obtain an address automatically (DHCP enabled), then reconnect the Linksys to the Arris.

Once everything is connected normally, you should be able to access the Linksys by the new IP address you've assigned.

Can I have some more information on how to set a static IP? I'm not very good when it comes to things like this. I'm also confused about "an address that is in the Arris subnet but outside of the DCHP range." Thanks

You will find the DHCP range in the Arris settings page. It should be in the "LAN" section, and may be something like "192.168.0.100" to "192.168.0.199". For your router, just use an address in which the last set of numbers is something outside of that range, up to 254. Example would be 192.168.0.10. Find the settings in your Arris and post a screen shot if you have any questions about it.

As for the static IP, there are plenty of resources that you can Google depending on your OS.
For Windows systems: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19249/how-to-assign-a-static-ip-address-in-xp-vista-or-windows-7/

I'd recommend changing the range to allow you to set a static IP address, and leave space for any you may want or need to set in the future. Usually a range of 100 DHCP addresses is more than enough for residential applications.

For example, you could keep the starting address the same (192.168.0.2) and change the ending to 192.168.0.100.

You could then set a static IP address of 192.168.0.110.

For the DNS server, there should be addresses listed somewhere in your router settings, or use the Google DNS servers (8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8).

I set the static IP to 192.168.1.110 on my laptop which was plugged into the Linksys. The Linksys was unplugged from the Arris, which the max DHCP was set to 192.168.110. I went on the laptop browser and went to http://myrouter.local. Nothing. I tried 192.168.1.1. Nothing.

If you can't access the Linksys with the laptop plugged into a numbered LAN port with the default address. then it's possible that address was changed. If you don't know the changed address, you will need to do a factory reset of the router to gain access.

The label on the router usually displays the default address, so you may want to double check that.
