it has come to my attention that I can't boot 64bit Vms in Virtual box nor change the number of processor
-I have a core i7 4770 processor
-Asus mother board with Intel B85 Express chipset
I have tried this on both Linux 64bit and Windows 7 64 bits host
If I understand my research it seems that the chipset is the culprit because it does not support Virtualization? Can someone confirm this before I go back and exchange the motherboard?

If the MB is the cause I must admin I am shocked, my old 7 computer has no problem booting 64 bit vms, one would come to think that a modern computer would have this feature for granted :S

It doesn't support Vt-d or vPro, but it should support virtualization if it's enabled in the BIOS. While a motherboard based on the Q87 or the H87 (no vPro support, but you probably don't care) chipset may have been a better choice for the i7-4770, the B85 should work.

Thank you very much enabling virtualization in the BIOS solved the issue, I wonder why this was not enabled by default? is there any significant advantage to changing to a motherboard with Q87 or the H87 in PC performance ?
