Can't boot after clean Windows 7 UEFI install.

Hello all,

I just recently got a new Samsung 840 EVO SSD and am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 on it. I would like to use GPT not MBR but am having problems.

I successfully made the disk GPT, booted the Windows 7 DVD in UEFI mode and installed it. However, when I boot up my machine it gives me an error. It seems that my BIOS refuses to boot my SSD in UEFI mode - it only shows up in legacy mode. I am using a Gigabyte H97M-D3H mobo.

What am I missing?

AHCI is enabled, yes. I am planning on having more than 4 partitions - the Windows 7 partitions (2 I believe?) and also two or more linux distros. I figure it's better to do it with GPT than to use an extended volume in MBR.

I figured it out!

I initially installed Windows 7 on my Toshiba 1TB HDD. When I tried to reinstall Windows on the Samsung SSD, I didn't disconnect my Toshiba drive. After I did that, it installed just fine with just the SSD plugged in.
