Hello,

So I've been attempting to boot to my SSD for about an hour, here's the situation.

I have 2 HDDs, 1TB and 500GB. I recently got a Vertex 60GB. I decided to put all my games onto the 500GB, the 500GB HDD currently has Windows 7 on it. I installed my SSD and then went to install windows onto it. Windows installed fine to my SSD however when I change the boot order to my SSD, It either doesn't launch or launches the Windows on my 500GB HDD.

My plan was, install windows on my SSD, port all my games from the 500GB to 1TB so I didnt have to reinstall them, then format the 500GB. So I would have Windows on my SSD and wouldn't have lost my games. Can someone help me find out why it won't boot onto my SSD?

Thanks

Note, here are the parts that I mentioned:

- Vertex SSD
- Western Digital 1TB HDD
- Samsung 500GB HDD
- Motherboard: MSI Z97-G43

Solution
If installing OS on a new SSD, you should physically remove/unplug other storage devices. Otherwise, Windows will see them during install and boot management can be a problem. Remove HDDs, install SDD, install OS on SDD, replace HDDs, delete old Windows directories off of HDDs to save space.

Note that if you do a virgin install like this, you'll have to re-install games (and all other programs) under new Windows (although game data should be safe). The other option is to do a migration instead of a virgin install. OSZ has such software.
