Hey pplz,

I just put together my C2D system

DS3 REV. 3.3
C2D e6400
Seagate drive 320gb
OCZ gamexstream ps
EVGA 8800gts 640mb
OCZ platinum rev.2 6400 2gb set

My question is that whenever i turn it on (just put it together) all the fans spin up for 1 second or 2 and then it justs dies down and basically restarts within 1 second

Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED :D

I'm not sure what you mean by "it justs dies down and basically restarts within 1 second". Does it keep starting and stopping? Or does it start and then shut down completely? Or is it doing something else entirely?

Is the motherboard mounted in the case? If so, is it possible that some of the contacts on the bottom of the motherboard are touching metal and shorting out?

Take out one of the memory sticks, get into the BIOS and add +0.2v to the RAM.

Then update the BIOS using Qflash from a floppy.

Add the other memory stick and wail away

I have a similar problem, with the DS3 1.0. When I press power sometimes the fans spin for a moment, but otherwise the whole system remains dead. I unplugged everything except the motherboard, PSU (4-pin CPU and 24-pin ATX connectors), and CPU, but it's still the same. :(

mine does the same thing with RAM, video card, power supply and cooler (stock intel). i tried it out of the case too.

Maybe i'm not luck  but i have rev 3.3 which should have ironed out these problems.

I've replaced the mobo, CPU, and RAM with no success. Soon I'll have another PSU to try out. If the PSU doesn't fix it, I'll be hopelessly lost.

my system does the excact same thing from a new hardwareinstall to a failed overclock. It doed this for about 30 secs. then finally bootsup with default BIOS settings. It seems the mobo is failing a boot, restarts at lower settings, item by item till it can successfully boot. It does this all automatically. At the end, mine never fails to boot. However, I have to reinput all my BIOS settings. After that, it'll boot fine every time. Hope that's all on yours. So, let it try for atleast 30 secs....maybe a min. I've never timed it. Good Luck!

Hey man im having the exact same problem. Can't get the system to even POST. I've been swapping components in and out trying to get it to at least POST. Im positive the MOBO isn't shorting on the case... getting frustrated.

SOMEGUYFROMHELL---- Try removing the CMOS battery and throwing a couple beers back. Turned out my initial boot failed and it saved those settings. Was able to POST and re-POST to my hearts content.
