I recently got a new tablet monitor and I wanted to use it as extended mode. My PC sadly only has 1 VGA port so I bought a USB 3.0 to VGA Multi-Display Video Graphic External Cable Adapter for Win 7, thankfully I am able to use extend display.

The only problem is that my tablet monitor screen resolution is stuck at 800 x 600, but I know that it can go up to 1600 x 900. I have print screened the settings for both monitors so you can see.

When I try to raise the resolution for my tablet monitor, I'm unable to do so because the resolution box is grayed out.

Can someone please advise me on what I can do please?

The tablet isn't sending any info about what type of display it has so just defaults to 800x600. There might not be any driver and I don't know if you can set a custom res with that adapter but those are the only ways to get it to show other res options.

The adapter definitely supports larger resolution as it was stated on the site when I bought it as can be seen in the list below.

I also already downloaded the driver needed for the tablet monitor.

I even made the tablet monitor as the 1st monitor and the normal monitor as the 2nd monitor to see if that changes anything but it ended up with the 1st monitor above 800 x 600 resolution but 2nd monitor still stuck at 800 x 600.

I'm thinking I need to do something for the 2nd monitor so it can go above the default resolution.

I had this problem before where I could not go above default setting when I factory reset my PC because my normal monitor was stuck at default resolution, so I updated my driver for my graphics card (NVIDIA) and that fixed the issue. I have tried doing that again but my driver says it is up to date.
