[SOLVED] Cant change CPU clock ratio past 39

I recently tried manually overclocking (first time) my CPU through BIOS and did it .1 at a time. But when I was going to go to 4.0 GHz I went to change the value from 39 to 40 but when I pressed enter it just went to Auto (this made it return to 3.5 GHz) Does anyone know how to go past 3.9 GHz, I have an i5-6600k and a Gigabyte H170 Gaming 3 motherboard. If anyone has any help let me know.

Can’t go past max turbo on an H170. Need a Z series for that.

you don't have the right motherboard for overclocking. you will need a mobo with a Z170/270 chipset

I could have sworn that said Z170 Gaming 3 when I read it earlier. Guess not. IN that case, that's correct, you are limited to the max stock turbo speed. You will need a Z170 board to go beyond that multi.
