Can't change folder path

I just bought a 500gb samsung 850 evo, transferred C, and am trying to use the old 1tb WD for mass storage.

I decided I'd put my videos and pictures there, so I changed the locations to inside folders in E... now instead of saying "Videos" and "Pictures" it says E:\ and E:\, and when you click them it just takes you to directly to the drive, not inside the folder.

Now when I go to change it back to default location I get "The folder can't be moved here, access denied"

Totally lost. No idea what happened. No clue how to fix it.

I tried to change the location via registry edit and had no luck there either..

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hey there, Naut!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD HDD after the cloning process! 🙁 What cloning software did you use? You might want to try repeating the procedure and see if things will get better after the second attempt. The 'Access Denied' error could be indicating that you've most the admin rights over the HDD, so I'd also suggest you to look at this tutorial about taking ownership of a drive: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2808-take-ownership-file-folder-drive-registry-key-windows-8-a.html

If you have the Windows Installation media, it would be much better for your system to simply perform a clean install onto the SSD. This way you'd avoid transferring the redundant files from your previous Windows install. If you decide to go with that option, make sure you have the WD HDD unplugged from the SATA ports until the fresh install is completed. Otherwise, you might encounter an OS confusion, which is what you usually happens when you have more than 1 storage devices connected to the motherboard.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
