Can't change to refresh rate higher than 60Hz

My friend just bought a AOC G2460PQU monitor, which supposedly supports 144Hz. When we installed the monitor, we noticed that there was no option for refresh rate higher than 60. His graphic card (GTX 650) has a DVI-D Dual Link port in it and his monitor has one too. So, today, we went to buy a DVI-D Dual Link cable. When we first connected it, it showed additional options for refresh rates, which were 100Hz, 120Hz and 144Hz. But as soon as we selected the 144Hz option, the screen just blacked out. It happens with every other refresh rate except for the 60Hz one. We've tried using teamviewer and we found out that I could see what was happening on his monitor through teamviewer but he couldn't see anything from his monitor.

Yes, I have already had installed the driver before.
