Can't choose between upgrading speaker or display monitor...

I wanna upgrade... something on my PC but I don't know which is better.

On one side I can take a better monitor like BENQ GW2765HT. (I have a -$120 discount until the 26th)
I already have a decent one the ASUS PA246Q, and a crappy dell TN display. Should I get another one I would probably just retire the dell and only keep the 2 calibrated IPS monitors.
I use a single AMD 7970, which is quite sufficient for my current 1920x1200 monitor. I think it should hold up quite well considering I don't even play that much demanding games, although GTAV will be a must.
I am quite sensitive to color accuracy (hence the PA246Q), but I think mostly because a few years back nobody gave a shit about it and most displays sucked balls(like my Dell TN). Now days even consumer/gaming TN displays sometimes do a good job.
Another problem with this is how my eyesight is at an uncomfortable slightly near-sighted such that I don't usually wear glasses, and I can barely focus (perfectly) for the distance I view my current 24' monitor at. I'm afraid that if I get a bigger monitor, I would be sitting further away and I won't be able to focus very well without wearing my glasses.

On the other hand I can get a pair of Audioengine 5+ speaker monitors.
Right now I have some crappy $70 logitech surround speakers set. I don't even use it that often because the quality is really just mediocre, especially compared to my AKG Q701 connected to the ASUS Xonar Essence STX amp card.
Unlike the display department, although I own a somewhat audiophile set-up, for whatever reason I am not very sensitive to sound quality. Sure the 701 sounds great but I don't have a huge problem with less expensive things like a pair of $50 headphones connected to on-board audio.

I do all kinds of things on my PC, but not professionally in any way.
Gaming obviously, but not that much, probably a few hours a day at most. Unless there's a really addictive new game that just came out.
Watching videos movies anime and such. Right now due to the crappy quality of my speakers I watch them with headphones. I don't have an urgent need to share with someone else, but that could change in a few months when my GF moves in.
Reading things, yes sometimes I am interested in reading text for hours, although somewhat rare .
Doing design stuff, like modding games doing 3D modeling and texturing.
Photography, RAW editing,

For photography, Raw editing, gaming, and movies, I recommend a new 3K resolution monitor. 4K looks like crap on a small screen monitor (spoken out of experience).
Now I would only recommend new speakers unless you are a heavy gamer, I would just get a cheap ($50) headset. Hope this helps m8.

high res display is pointless for games unless you have the power to run games at that kind of resolutions. which I do not, so I need to like, at least get another 7970.
It's also pointless for movies because there are no 4k movies available so I don't know what you mean by that.
Sure it's good for photo editing but it's not even within my budget. The two things I listed are around $450. A good 4k monitor is $1300. Might as well recommend me buy a private jet and travel the world instead.

I also don't understand your distinction between 3k and 4k. The only screens out there higher than 2560 are 3840, and they're called "4k". But nobody calls 2560 screens "3k". I've heard of 3200 screens called "3k" but I am not aware of any desktop screens with 3200 resolution.
No they do not look like crap they look gorgeous, unless you didn't set your scaling properly, then they might look a bit worse than 1920 screens.

As insensitive as I am towards audio, a $50 pair of headphones are not gonna be good enough for much of anything. Besides most heavy gamers would prefer headphones instead of speakers because you can talk over the mic easier. Expensive speakers are mostly for music and probably movies, Again, I don't know what you're talking about.

You mean like the AKG Q701 which I already have?

Sorry, overlooked those. Yeah those are pretty nice cans. If you want to watch stuff with your girlfriend and have the space for it, consider maybe grabbing a $300 40+ inch TV and pipe your PC into it. Most of the time you're sharing a screen with somebody else the input lag on a TV won't impact you, and you get a way bigger screen for the price.

get the Logitech Surround Sound Speaker System Z906 for speakers or get the audio technica adg1 open back gaming headphones but personally dont get a display yet no sense in having a good display without good sound
