Can't clear 4.2GB of Mail and Attachments on iPhone

I have an iPhone running iOS 9.3.2.

Recently I tried to email some videos to myself so I can access them on my computer (I now there is an easier way to do it) but when I tried to email them from the Photos app, I must've created a bunch of drafts because now my Storage is telling me I have 4.2GB used in Mail.

I tried the fixes I found online: delete the email account, reboot the phone, re-add the account. The only thing left to do is backup my phone, but I want to exhaust any other possibility before I do that.

I would really appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks.

Backing up your phone will be quicker than waiting for this answer. If you use iTunes and a cord rather than iCloud you'll be done in 30 minutes.

Removing and re-adding the email account won't do anything because it will just connect to your email again. Why not just look with the email folders and find where the emails are? Sent items, Inbox, Drafts, etc...

I'm running 9.3.4 and after I deleted the complete phone and restored from a recent backup trying to fix my 2.4GB email attachment problem (that process was successful) I did find a setting in mail that displays the attachments. This setting is found in the Mail app itself on the main page - select Edit - you will see all the options for what is displayed and one of them is Attachments! So if someone else is having trouble with ios eMail sucking up GB of data then try adding the Attachments to your Mail display and then delete those to see if it cures the problem. I don't know if it will work, but it is certainly worth a try!
