Hi guys, urgent help is needed here. I recently bought a new WD Blue 1tb HDD to clone my old 80gb Hitachi Deskstar to. I have put the new drive in a docking station and turned it on. In my computer, a Removable Disk (E:) appears but no HDD appears. Does it have to be partitioned? I went into device manager and looked in disks earlier and the same E: drive was there again. I have no option to format it. PLEASE HELP!!!

I am using EaseUS Todo bakup to clone the disks

You need to go into Disk Management, not Device Manager, in order to format the new drive.

**In Windows 8 & 10 you can access Disk Management by right-clicking the start button in the lower-left side of the desktop and selecting 'Disk Management' from the list that appears.

**This is how to access it in Windows 7:

- Click on the Start button and then choose Control Panel.
- Click on the System and Security link.

Note: If you're viewing the Large icons or Small icons view of Control Panel, you won't see this link so just click on the Administrative Tools icon and skip to Step 4.

- In the System and Security window, click on the Administrative Tools heading located near the bottom of the window.
- In the Administrative Tools window, double-click on the Computer Management icon.
- When Computer Management opens, click on Disk Management on the left side of the window, located under Storage.

Once in Disk Management you should be able to see the new drive.

- If the drive needs to be initialized, right click the drive and choose 'initialize'
- If the drive needs to be formatted, right-click it and choose to quick format.

Firstly, thanks for the replies. The pc is on Windows XP. I meant to say disk management in the first place (sorry for any confusion). Basically, the USB docking station shows up as a storage device in disk management. I tested a different hard drive in the docking station and the actual drive appeared in disk management (different letter from E). I also forgot to mention that the drive was making a clicking sound when power was connected. I think this might be a faulty drive
