Can't clone SSD to HD, tried numerous programs. It won't fuly boot to where I can do anything, Drives are both 1 TB.

Solution
Want to run same comp with Win 10 for one time use program.
So then just do a clean install of Win 10 on the HDD.
No cloning needed.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
If you are cloning from a SATA drive to PCIe/NVMe, install the relevant driver for this new NVMe/PCIe drive.
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive

If you are going from a smaller drive to a larger, by default, the target partition size will be the same as the Source. You probably don't want that
You can manipulate the size of the partitions on the target (larger)drive
Click on "Cloned Partition Properties", and you can specifiy the resulting partition size, to even include the whole thing

Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe all partitions on it.
This will probably require the commandline diskpart function, and the clean command.

Ask questions if anything is unclear.

So that explains it. You're saying you can't clone a drive with over 800 gb data too another 1 tb drive. I'll just move some of my movies etc. to another drive and try again. Thanks.
Yes.
The operation needs some free space to do this.

But still...why a clone?
Just install Win 10 on this other drive.

Cloning Win 7 serves no purpose if you want to be running WIn 10 on this drive.

I don't want to be stuck with 10 and need to access some files in my old drive while running 10. That's why I wanted to clone it then do an upgrade on the temporary drive that I would use once a yr.

Yes, I thought about a 10 fresh install and transferring the needed files. Would have to find a 10 crack etc. then.

Sigh....

No you don't.

You can install Win 10 and leave it Unactivated. Simply do not apply a license key.
It will run exactly as normal, just with a randomly appearing watermark at bottom right.

And do not suggest or ask about a 'crack' again.
Doing so will just result in this being closed completely.
