Question Cant connect displayport cable to monitor

Recently moved and im trying to get my pc setup going again but cant get one of my monitors to detect displayport input. I know the monitor works because i tried to use the hdmi port and its fine. Noticed that the display port cable prongs isnt catching the port itself. Anyone have any advice on this matter. I have a asus pg278qr.
