cant connect new laptop with sharp aquas tv

When connecting laptop (HP envy 17) to sharp aquas (LC-46D 65U) by HDMI the screen flickers intermittently. When connecting same laptop to other tv's it works fine. HP tech support says everything is working fine as far as the computer is concerned. Any thoughts? (i downloaded the latest firmware for the tv, but it was dated 2009, and it didn't make any difference....

hi.Go into your tv settings. If the picture is set to 1080i change it to 1080p or vice versa.
