Hey guys! Let me just preface that I've tried pretty much every single thing I can find on this issue on the internet, barring actually changing my wireless network adapter, which I'm not sure will actually fix the issues I'm having.

  • - I'm able to connect to my router from my phone, iPad, laptop, every device other than my PC itself.
    - I haven't tried Ethernet as the PC is physically in another room from my router (however, it has been in the same place for the past 3-4 years and I haven't had a single problem with the distance from the router for the whole time I've had this PC)
    - The WiFi worked until yesterday, when it just refused to connect to the network.
    - I've tried to turn on the WiFi Hotspot from my phone, and my PC connects to it perfectly fine without any problems and I'm able to access the internet using the WiFi Hotspot from my phone.
    - I've keyed in the password to my router at least 10 times and there is little chance I got the password wrong as I tried keying the same password on my phone

PC Specs:
ASUS Z87-Pro with integrated WiFi (using the Qualcomm Atheros AR946x Wireless Network Adapter)
Intel i5 4670K
ASUS GTX 770 DCU-II

List of solutions I've tried:

  • - Using command prompt with admin permissions to "ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew" as well as some other "netsh" commands, none did anything to help and it just said that "No operation can be performed on Wi-Fi while it has its media disconnected)
    - Booting up into Safe Mode with Networking to try to connect to the network (so no it's not a problem with a program blocking my connection)
    - Every solution as stated on this webpage http://windowsreport.com/windows-10-cant-connect-this-network/, uninstalling and letting windows automatically install my Wireless Adapter Drivers, Going to the ASUS page to get the latest drivers for my motherboard's WiFi adapter, disabling IPv6 protocol, etc. (However, I can't seem to change the bandwidth as to which my Network Adapter is operating at)
    - Running Window's Diagnostics just tells me to connect to a WiFi network, followed by telling me to connect an Ethernet Cable

What really puzzles me is that my network adapter is able to connect to my phone's hotspot and get internet connection that way, however, it just refuses to connect to my home's broadband router, saying "Can't Connect To This Network.". This is also the reason why I'm apprehensive as to getting a new Network Adapter as if it's working when connected to my phone, there must be some problem that causes it to simply not connect to my Router.

Any help rendered will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for reading!

Solution
After all that work... The problem was solved when I tightened the pin that connected my wireless adapter to the socket...

I guess my phone's hotspot must have somehow used the band on my wireless adapter that was tightly connected and my router somehow used the one that was loose, causing me to be unable to connect to the internet...

So it happened to be a careless mistake after all!

Hmm... It is quite an old router, however, my laptop (which I'm using now) and my phone and tablets are connected to it just fine. It's only my PC that has trouble connecting to it...

Will try to access the settings page

Accessed the Router's settings page, my router is set to 802.11b/g/n.

I don't think my router even supports the 5GHz band though. It has been around for about 6 years and I can't seem to find an option for it to change its broadcast bandwidth

I checked my router's settings and the security type is WPA2 with AES as the encryption type.

Manually set up a connection on my PC with the same settings and still not able to get it to connect.

I've exhausted almost every single "normal" troubleshooting method but still have yet to find whether the problem lies with the router or the network adapter or my PC's windows base has somehow been corrupted to not accept that one wireless network.

Yeah... I've been facing this problem since yesterday, looked up pretty much every thread available on this problem and most seem to be careless mistakes (maybe mine is too but I just haven't noticed it yet) however, I can't for the love of God do anything to connect my PC to my router for two days now as it just gives me the Can't connect to this network error no matter which method I try. Pretty much pulling my hair out now as I can't seem to identify the problem.

I just need to identify the root of the problem, whether it lies in the software of my PC, network adapter of my PC or the router as changing the wrong set of hardware could just be an expensive waste of money.

I've just observed what exactly happens. Whenever I connect to my Home network, after typing in the password and connecting, it will go and say 'connecting', however, after a while (not sure what exactly is happening) but my network adapter will become disabled and enabled again on its own. Is this possibly a symptom of a specific problem?
