Hi. I have never tried to create a log on password for windows 7/64. I have gone to accounts and tried to change it. Dialog box says Windows cannot change the password. at the top is my computer name and below it it says Administrator. This is a stand alone home computer. Not an any network

google search says use windows key + R to open open the Computer Management and type msc But +R opens the run dialog box not computer managment

Windows cannot find msc

Where did this OS install come from?
Do you have the current password for the Admin account?

OS came from a Microsoft DVD that I bought
I am the Admin and unless installing OS comes with a password then there should not be a passord. I did say this is a HOME computer. It is mine I bought it. There is no administrator as people who buy computers in a shop also don't have administrators.

The first account created during the OS install IS an Administrator account.
Being a Home PC 'bought in a shop' does not change that.

See SkyNetRisings image above to see if that setting exists.

Yes but if you take the computer home. Format the HDD and install a brand new OS who is the administrator and what is the password.
Default administrator account on windows is account named "Administrator".
When you install windows, you usually are asked to create additional local user accounts or add Microsoft user accounts. Local accounts are administrators automatically. Microsoft account will be created as restricted user. You can change account type later, if necessary.

Does this mean that when anyone installes a fresh copy of windows the default Administrator (with the name of the PC you give it) can not have a password created? I only have the default with name Pablo and Administrator.

You say You can change the account type later. This says Administrator. There are no other accounts. Only the one created.

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts
This page does not give the option to create another account

I can Create a password for account (does not work)
Change picture
Change name
change account type (administrator is default. Standard user is greyed out)
Manage another account
Change user control settings

No, the default install is an Admin account WITH a password.
You actually have to work at it to make it not have a password.

You cannot change the only account (which is Admin) to a Standard user. The system requires an Admin account to exist.

The first account created IS an Admin account, password or no password.
You can then create other accounts, either Standard User or another Admin.
But you cannot have a Standard User account create an Admin account.
