Can't decide between i3 or i5

Hello everyone, I can't decide between two CPU's i3 4170 or i5 4460.
So I will be using it for gaming, as I look at the benchmarks i3 seems to be good with games like GTA 5 and Fallout4 (those are the games I would like to play) and I want to know if there will be big difference with i5? I know i3 has 2cores and 4threads, and I've read that Intel G3258 with 2cores and only 2threads have shuttering, like big fps drops at some times, and I want to to know if i3 will have drops like that, i've watched some youtube videos and i3 seems good enough for me, medium/high settings 1080p 60fps.

And I can also get i3 3245(for very cheap price) wich is older CPU, but I can't find any newer game benchmarks with this cpu, does anybody know if this CPU will perform almost like i3 4170, then I would definitely get i3 3245.

I would go for the I5 because it is a true quad vs virtual and there will be more games that run better on it.

Yeah I know it will perform better, but I don't need it future proof, I need it only for GTA 5 and Fallout 5, and my question is, will i3 have fps drops?

i5 is better than the i3 and its not furture proofing its going for the best bang for the buck cpu...

I own a i5 4460 and a MSI GTX 970 4GB. I have only ever seen the cpu go 100% usage on witcher 3, assassins creed unity and syndicate and far cry 4 on ultra.

Other than that it can play high/very high or max very well depending on the game

You must have other bloatware running on that machine. I own an I5-4460 and an R9 390 and on Unity my CPU is at 45% with all 4 cores being properly utilized equally.

What is your CPU usage at idle while not playing any games? Mine's around 3%.

Well i just took out my CPU cooler which is the stock one and cleaned it and the CPU up. I checked the socket pins weren't bent which they were not and i reinstalled it the CPU and cooler.

I now get 30 temp at 3% usage when idle which was no different than before but while gaming my CPU now sticks between from 30-50 round about instead of the old 70 temp that i use to get.

So a major improvement thou i will update this if anything changes.
