Good day all, I apologize for asking such a noobish question that has most likely been asked a billion times but I am now truly confused.

I am in the process of upgrading my entire set-up and when it comes to what monitors to get I am truly stumped.

I am looking for the best overall monitor for Gaming, Photoshop work, I do a bit of day trading so Multi monitor is a must, all in a 27 inch package for under $350 a piece.

Some specs and tldr
I5 4960k soon to be upgraded to an I7
2x EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked

Reduction in eye strain is important
Gaming: Kerbal, BF4, Planetside 2, etc mostly first person and adventure games
Current monitors: Asus VH238H x 3

I've narrowed it down on my own to
ASUS VS278Q-P

ASUS MX279H

I have more room in my budget for something slightly better.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Really popular and good quality monitor: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313&cm_re=asus_vg248qe-_-24-236-313-_-Product

Pros:

1) 144 hz (You will see up to (REAL) 144 FPS)
2) 1ms response time
3) Capable of 3D (need to buy a sperate package for 3D though)
4) This monitor compliments your 2x 970s!
5) Perfect price as it is $50 than your MAX limit.
6) Features of the monitor such as Height & Pivoting

Cons:

1) 24", not 27"
2) 1080p. This is a con, because with 2x 970s, you can play with resolutions up to 1440p or even 4k!
3) TN panel, so it's just plain bad for any photo/video editing.

PS: Unfortuantely, you will have to see which is more important, gaming or photoshop? If it is gaming, then the monitor...

PS: Unfortuantely, you will have to see which is more important, gaming or photoshop? If it is gaming, then the monitor above is amazing for its price. If it is Photoshop, then I would HIGHLY recommend you to purchase an IPS panel display. The MAIN pros and cons of an IPS display are:

Pros:
1) Beautiful colors
2) Viewable at any angle (colors dont mess-up when you move your head)

Cons:
1) More expensive than TN panel monitors
2) Bad for gaming, as really you're limited to a 60hz monitor (unless you buy some crazy ass $10k IPS 120hz monitor lol)

Thank you brother. It seems that your info and the fact that getting something comparable to the Q in a 27 inch panel will be about 1k more out of pocket per monitor. Maybe one day after I get that Warren Buffet money I will fill a room with 3 grand monitors but for now 3 of the 24 inch Asus will suffice.

No problemo! 😀

And good luck, wish you all the best! 😛
