I was looking at building a new pc and I have come to the choice of either getting a ryzen 5 3600X and a 2060 SUPER or getting a Ryzen 7 3700X and a 2060. On this computer I will be doing mostly gaming but I may want to do some editing in 1920 by 1080 and I seem to be stumped

honestly, both are great cpus, they can do either really well just by how new and advanced they are, ryzen 7,s can do gaming perfectly fine too, and you'd probably find more answers on what to choose if you just snooped the internet a bit

A balanced gamer will budget about 2x the cost of the processor for the graphics card.
On that basis, your the 3700x/2060 super option is better.
You might even look at the 3600/x if it will get you a stronger graphics card.
Games by themselves do not make good use of more than 4-6 cores.
Editing can use more, but that is only your secondary use.
