Can't delete exe from desktop; locks up immediately

I have an icon on my desktop {HuniePop_v1.2.0_setup} that I cannot delete. Any time I select it {whether in File Explorer or on the actual desktop} it locks up the Windows Explorer process. More often than not, the process will go into 'not responding' and self-restart, but on occasion I'll have to hard-reset due to my inability to run anything from CMD to the Run window.

I've tried just about everything I can think of to remove this and am out of ideas. I've tried the traditional ways {right click, delete}, I've tried system restore, I've tried safe-mode, I've got nothing left.

Any suggestions or ideas before I completely reformat?

Download, install, update, and run Malwarebyte's Antimalware. If you can't delete an .exe that you downloaded, and now you can't access CMD, it would appear your machine is infected with a virus/malware.

I've scanned several times over with AVG and I only have trouble accessing CMD when I try to do anything with the icon and the Windows Explorer process locks up/restarts. I've tried deleting the file through elevated CMD to no avail.

AVG isn't an antivirus to rely on. Run malwarebytes. It is free and picks up far more than AVG.

Try starting your system in Safe Mode and then delete the file:

You should also run Malwarebytes while in Safe Mode to check for other nasties.
