I had an old 3tb seagate external hard drive laying around my house and I decided to convert it to an internal hard drive and use it that way. After installing it I went to my settings and it wasn't under storage so I went to computer management and 1/3 of it is partitioned and unallocated. The entire drive can't be used and 1/3rd of it is unallocated. I cant do anything to either partition, whenever I right click everything is grayd out except for properties. I'm very upset I can't use this hard drive and I honestly don't know what to do.

Have you tried using DISKPART to clean the drive, then go back into computer management to re-partition it?

From a command prompt type

diskpart
list disk
Identify the number of your 3TB disk
select disk # <--- Insert your actual number instead of #
(If you want more info about the drive you can type detail disk)
clean
exit
exit

Make sure you clean the correct drive, because if you have more than one drive and you get the number wrong you can lose data.

When you go back into disk management it should say that it found an uninitialized disk. Initialize it as GPT, then you should be able to create partitions and format it.

Good luck
