I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I want to downgrade back to Windows 8.1 but in settings when I press go back to windows 8.1 it says Something went wrong No changes were made. I upgraded 4 days ago so I should be able to downgrade.

It seems that you'll have to stick with Windows 10 or install other version from scratch.

Maybe during the 4 trial days you have deleted or moved some files or folders that you shouldn't.

You can do it by doing a clean reinstall of Windows 8.1.

But, what’s wrong with Windows 10?

If your system won't let you, there is no magic dust we out here can sprinkle on it to make it roll back.

A full drive backup done before this upgrade would have probably worked.
(not a simple System Restore Point)

Having 4GB RAM isn't critical, unless you run some RAM hungry apps, Windows 10 can manage pretty well with 4GB RAM.

But as @USAFRet said, the HDD is a handicap, you should upgrade to SSD.
