Hi, i updated bios and my system wouldn't boot so reset CMOS, now it does post but it won't allow me to enter BIOS settings and then I just get a blue screen, then computer restarts and does the same again. I have tried the keyboard in mulitple usb slots and tried a ps2 keyboard.

Please help!

Motherboard: Gigabyte ga-h61m-s2pv rev2.0

Solution
Try this:

hold the front panel power switch depressed until it finally quits trying to restart;
switch off the power supply - or, if no switch, unplug it;
depress the front panel power switch for twenty seconds more;
jumper, or (carefully) short the RST_CMOS pins momentarily;
unplug all USB devices, except keyboard and rodent;
PSU switch back on;
power up - first thing, enter the BIOS and do the "Load Optimized";
<F10> to save and exit;
Ok you could try reflashing your bios, either with the newest version or with a previous version. Also you could you tell me what happens when you try to enter the bios.

Edit: Just noticed your board has dual bios, try switching to the other one.

But thats thing i cant enter the bios as when it comes up with the options i won't let me enter the setup. I've tried pressing ESC/End/F8/F12 and DEL but nothing.

Basically what happens is; i turn it on and it boots but doesn't post, then boots again and posts and shows the old motherboard setup page (but won't allow me to enter the settings), then just goes to a blue screen that says "dual bios", then resets. So obviously the first time it boots it tries to enter the updated bios but doesn't post, then loads the second (old bios) but doesnt let me do anything.

When i updated the bios at first it booted fine but the mouse and keyboard didn't work, so i restarted and entered the bios and stupidly changed "on chip sata type" from IDE to AHCI as a video i watched said this might help. I rebooted and the PC wouldn't post and it got stuck in a bootloop of starting for 1 second, then turning off. Then i reset CMOS and i'm where I am now.

I appreciate your help, I really do, I'm so stuck.

Sorry didn't mean to select as answer, is there a way I can remove it?

And it doesn't boot to windows, after the second boot it shows bios splash screen (which it won't let me enter) and then goes to a blue screen saying "dual bios" then goes and reboots again.

It does a continual boot loop of 2 boots: 1st starts up doesn't post (last about 10 secs). It then reboots to the 2nd (dual bios kicking in trying to load old bios?) - boots, posts, shows old bios splash page, which it doesn't let me enter, then goes to a blue screen saying dual bios, and the reboots to #1 again

Try this:

hold the front panel power switch depressed until it finally quits trying to restart;
switch off the power supply - or, if no switch, unplug it;
depress the front panel power switch for twenty seconds more;
jumper, or (carefully) short the RST_CMOS pins momentarily;
unplug all USB devices, except keyboard and rodent;
PSU switch back on;
power up - first thing, enter the BIOS and do the "Load Optimized";
<F10> to save and exit;

Solution
hi, after contacting gigabyte they told me to revert to my old bios, as luckily my mobo has a dual bios system. they gave me instructions on how to do this but it didn't work, however method 2 on this page did http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/697533-GUIDE-Forcing-backup-BIOS-on-Gigabyte-motherboards

anyway after reverting to my old bios, i then re updated to new bios and then reinstalled windows (as there was usb recognition issues) and everything is working smoothly now. thanks for your help m4ntl3!
