I have put together a media server running windows server 2008 with raid 6 I'm using 4TB WD Red Pro drives I currently have 7 drives with the ability to add another 9. I recently was trying to extend the volume with the most recent added drive and I'm getting a message "The volume cant be extended because the number of clusters will exceed the maximum number of clusters supported by the file system" I haven't been able to find a solution that doesn't require a complete format. This of course isn't ideal I currently have 12TB of data. Does anyone know if there is a way to change cluster size without a format? Also what does the cluster size need to be set to so I don't run into this problem again?

Well that's a shame. Thanks I am aware raid isn't a backup its just not something I've been able to due yet but I suppose at this point I don't have much of an option if I want to solve this problem. Do you by chance know how big I need to change my cluster size to so I won't have this problem again ?
