Hi guys

There is a problem when i try to restore my pc back to factory settings all it says is "some files are missing. your windows install or recovery will provide these files".But considering i purchased my pc already pre-installed with windows 8, i don't have the product key.But i have been using software to find product keys,it's not located on my case or in my case anywhere like it used to be on other pc's.Also i have typed the keys that i got from the software to find my product key into the windows 8 ISO download from their website and it says it invalid for some reason?

Thanks guys

You may have to pay for the recovery disks but you just need to contact HP to find that info but also just to make sure you didn't delete the 2nd partition that was made for the recovery. Just contact HP.

The product key is usually at the bottom and the reason why you didn't get a OS disk is they don't do that anymore unless you request it from them. There's another partition on the HardDrive that has your OS for recovery. There's usually a program that will burn this to DVD's for restore. Hopefully you didn't delete this. You should find the program in the start menu under the whom ever makes your laptop. If you did delete the partition then you'll need to contact that company and order the disk.

mine is made by HP and would it be in program files 86 or just program files also when i click on hp recovery manager its says "your computer does not have a recovery partition"

No I'm talking about where the Start menu would normally be for anything other then Windows 8 as they took the start button away. You know on Windows 7, XP, or Vista you could click the start button and then all programs and you would see the folders of installed programs that have been added to the start menu. Look thru the HP folders for recovery. Or go to HP's web site and check the manual or try there live chat if they don't charge you.

do i have to buy the recovery partition again
