Can't find old files on an old hard drive

So my hard drive recently kicked the bucket, I ended up buying two new hard drives, a SSD for my OS and a regular HHD for file storage. I installed windows on the SSD and started setting up to install the new 2nd hard drive. For giggles I decided to plug in the old broken hard drive which I had not removed from the drive bay yet.

Low and behold the computer picked up the hard drive and I was able to open the drive from the "My Computer" screen. I'm presented with a bunch of files and stuff that I recognize, but what is conveniently missing is the files I really wanted. Things such as My Documents folder for word documents, pictures, etc... I couldn't seem to find those anywhere, even when doing a search for a file I knew existed.

Are these files really gone or are there some sort of permission issues that I need to change settings on to gain access to those files?

The files should be in the User folder in your old profile.

When I click on the drive this is all i have access to. If I select all and hit properties it tells me this is about 100GB roughly, while on the screen before the drive tells me it has roughly 400GB of information on it.

Hello... What OS was it? what OS do you have now reading it?

Oh sorry, old HD was Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, new drive is running the same thing

Hello... Did you "mark partition active" for the Old drive in Disk Management of the new OS?
