I am running Windows 10 and have my old hard drive in an external Hard Drive enclosure. I can not find my picture file or I should say it is empty. I did accidentally start my laptop w/the external drive still plugged in and the whole thing opened like it was my old computer w/ Windows 8 and all the pictures etc, everything was there. I'm not sure if that was a good thing to do but I will do it again if I can get the files off that way. I mean as much as I try (I did all the command prompt directives such as E:/attrib -r -s -h /d /s and I still can't find them. Any suggestions?

open command prompt and enter the following commands, assuming the external drive is E:

e:

dir /s *.jpg |more

this will show you all the folders on e: that contain jpg files
once you have identified the folder go there with windows explorer.
most likely something like C:\Users\user name\Pictures\

It only came up with some recycle bin stuff. I did of course look in C:\Users\user name\Pictures to start with. Frustrating. I can see my document files, desktop just not picture files.
